Pilgrimage to Montallegro

The sanctuary of “Nostra Signora di Montallegro” has been a pilgrimage destination for centuries, since the Madonna is said to have appeared to a farmer in the area. After this episode, the people of Rapallo decided to build a sanctuary in that place in memory of this apparition.
Built along the route of an ancient trade route, the sanctuary is easily reachable by walking from Rapallo, Chiavari, Leivi and even from Val Fontanabuona, offering a splendid view of the Gulf of Tigullio and its most precious pearl, Portofino.
In addition to the beautiful landscapes, this walk offers points of naturalistic interest, such as the lush holm oak forest, guardian of biodiversity and centuries-old curiosities, and preserves the memory of illustrious visitors, given that Guglielmo Marconi perfected radio transmission in these areas.
An excursion of great visual impact, full of anecdotes, suitable for everyone and very versatile, since, as already mentioned before, it can be done starting from different locations.
